There are always flowers for those who want to see them

These words were said by the famous painter Henri Matisse. Do you know him? Today (it´s the 31st December, the last day of 2017) it´s been 148 years since Henri Matisse was born in France in a small town called Le Cateau-Cambrésis.

How did he become a painter?

He studied law. After his studies he became ill and spent a lot of time in bed. It was extremely boring for him and his neighbour advised him to: Take a pencil and draw! Henri was excited about drawing and then about painting too.

He loved bright colours and didn´t mind that others criticised him for it.

I love his painting „Cyclamens“ and I also love his words: „There are always flowers for those who want to see them.“

A new year is starting. What can I wish for us? Let´s walk with open hearts and look at the world through the eyes of the painter. Don´t overlook the beautiful flowers that you´ll meet on your journey through life.

Have a nice year 2018.
